Frequently Asked Questions
How long can I keep a skip for?
Our domestic skip hire period is 14 days. For account customers it will depend on the size of skip and your location.
What can I put in a skip?
We can allow most general waste and construction waste in the skips. You cannot put any hazardous materials in there (unless you are hiring an asbestos only skip), any liquids, pressurised containers or batteries. Please see below for our list of restricted items.
Under no circumstances are the following to be put in the skip: Asbestos, fridges, freezers, batteries, gas canisters, paint tins, fluorescent tubes, aerosols, hazardous materials, chemicals, liquids, telegraph poles, railway sleepers or creosote treated timber.
If you do need to dispose of these items, our waste clearance team can assist.
Please inform us if you intend to put the following items in the skip as it may affect the price:
Upholstered furniture, plasterboard, mattresses, any electrical or electronic equipment, black polythene, astroturf, tree roots/stums, carpet, vinyl, rubber matting or roof felt.
Any contamination found in wood/inert/plasterboard/metal only skips will result in general waste charges.
Is paint classified as hazardous waste?
It depends on the type of paint, solvent based paint is, and should be disposed of correctly with the accompanying hazardous waste consignment note. Water based paints are not classified as hazardous and can be disposed of as general waste.
What does zero to landfill mean?
Zero to landfill is a commitment to not sending any waste to landfill. Companies that make this pledge will recycle as much waste as possible with the rest usually sent to waste to energy plants.
How much is a house clearance?
House clearance prices vary enormously but generally start at £200 +vat. The actual price will depend on what needs to be taken away, how much there is, if there are any access issues and where the property is located.

Do you donate furniture?
Yes, where possible we will always reuse furniture and other items. We also work closely with Emmaus North Staffs who support families in need with furniture donations.
What types of waste do you handle?
We manage a variety of waste streams, including general rubbish, scrap metal, hazardous materials, and WEEE waste, ensuring responsible disposal.
What areas do you cover?
This depends on the service, hazardous waste and electrical waste collections can be done nationally.
For house clearances and waste removals we will also do this nationally but with the transport costs this may not be cost effective for jobs which are 2 hours away from Stoke-on-Trent.
Skip hire is more localised. We cover much of Staffordshire, Cheshire, and parts of Derbyshire and Shropshire. Our full range of postcodes covered can be found on our pricing page.
What is a certificate of destruction?
This is a document to say that an item has been securely destroyed and can no longer be reused in its original form. This is usually used for data carrying mediums such as hard drives or paper documents but can also be used for copyright material such as branded merchandise.
